Amsterdam Neighborhood
Oost
Multicultural, unpretentious, and completely off the tourist radar. The real Amsterdam.
Oost is the neighborhood my friend Daan moved to four years ago and now refuses to leave. It has the Dappermarkt, the Tropenmuseum, Oosterpark, and a string of bars on Linnaeusstraat that locals treat like their living room. The vibe is multicultural, unpretentious, and completely off the tourist radar. This is where real Amsterdammers actually live and drink and eat — no souvenirs, no waffle stands, just a neighborhood being a neighborhood. If you want to see how the city actually works, come here.
