Amsterdam Neighborhood
De Pijp
Foodie paradise, vibrant street life, multicultural energy, and the best market in Amsterdam.
De Pijp is where my roommate moved three years ago and now acts like she discovered it. Home to the Albert Cuyp market, a million brunch spots, and the kind of energy that makes you walk slower and eat more. It is multicultural, vibrant, and packed with restaurants from every cuisine imaginable. The Heineken Experience is here too, but honestly that is the least interesting thing about this neighborhood. Come for the food, stay for the people-watching on a terrace along Sarphatipark.
Eat & Drink
4 spotsKen Sushi Workshop
Local FavoriteIf you’re into sushi, this is the place. Book weeks ahead, go Tuesday or Wednesday, and ask Ken for sake.
Yuan's Hot Pot
Local FavoriteGo with a group to Yuan’s Hot Pot in De Pijp — try the half-and-half pot if you’re new to spicy. It’s loud, steamy, and fun.
KID Amsterdam
KID Amsterdam is a tiny, ever-changing fine-dining spot in De Pijp. Book ahead — it’s worth the effort.
Yuan's Hot Pot
Local FavoriteMy roommate dragged our whole friend group here and now we go every month. Pick your broth, load up on fresh ingredients, and prepare for the loudest, steamiest dinner of your trip.
Going Out
3 spotsO'Donnell's Irish Pub
Local FavoriteMy buddy watches every Premier League game here with a Guinness in hand. Proper Irish pub, proper pints, and the pub grub hits different when you are homesick for comfort food.
Brouwerij Troost
Local FavoriteMy roommate’s second living room. Great beer, better burger, and a terrace that fills up fast on sunny weekends.
O'Donnell's Irish Pub
Local FavoriteIf you want the real Irish pub vibe in Amsterdam, O'Donnell's is it. Show up early on match days, and bring a friend.
